Ohio District Aktion Committee

Your Ohio District Aktion Committee met Saturday morning in Wapakoneta. The following items were discussed and decided upon:
1. Aktion has a balance of $238.45 in the checking account....with a total of $250.00 still owing (to me) for the deposit for Camp Glen. This leaves a negative balance
of $11.55. The $250.00 will be paid in 2008 from registration fees for the Aktion Convention scheduled for September 6 and 7.
2. The committee unanimously decided to move the location of our future conventions to the Recreation Unlimited facility in central Ohio. www.recreationunlimited.org
Please check it out. Enter the dates on your calendar: September 6 and 7, 2008. This is one week after the Labor Day Holiday.
3. The convention agenda was discussed and will be firmed up this winter. Aktion Club members will be asked to help with many of the duties associated with the
convention. We will need greeters, a master of ceremonies and event facilitators. These folks will be Aktion Club members. Because the convention is for the
benefit of our Aktion Club members we will be asking advisors, caregivers, Kiwanis officials and other non members to carry trays, clear the tables and other
duties as they may be needed.
4. The registration fee will be changed to $50.00 per person. This will allow us to almost break even with our finances.
5. All persons working at the convention will be required to have a background check. For those not already covered by a BC we will use the Kiwanis International
recommended company.... www.openonline.com More information will be forthcoming on the subject.
6. Medical and Photo release forms will be included with the registration packet and they will be required from every member.
7. A code of conduct form will be distributed to all members. This form will be signed, returned and kept on file. All of these forms will be kept confidential.
Only myself and Sande Johnson will have access to them.
8. It was recommended that advisors, MR/DD officials, Kiwanians, Circle K officials and other interested persons be invited to the convention to observe.
This will be helpful in promoting and developing more interest in Aktion, especially among those folks who are undecided about building an AC.....especially
when they see the enthusiasm, enjoyment and fun ACers have.
Questions and/or comments are encouraged. Aktion is a project in which all Kiwanians can participate.....so any thoughts, suggestions or ideas you have are welcome. The next meeting of the Ohio District Aktion Committee will be scheduled sometime during the Mid-Year Education Day in March.
